The Dakota Combo to headline the Twin Cities Jazz Festival Youth Stage

The Dakota Combo will headline this year’s Twin Cities Jazz Festival Youth Stage on Saturday, June 29. Their performance is the last of a daylong lineup of local youth jazz groups, supported by the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education. The Youth Stage will be located near the Black Dog Cafe, at 308 Prince Street in the Lowertown district of Downtown St. Paul. All performances are free and open to the public.

Led by professional bassist and MacPhail jazz program director Adam Linz (Fat Kid Wednesdays), the eight-member combo has been conquering a variety of jazz tunes from legends like Chick Corea and Ornette Coleman. These budding jazz pioneers—all local high school players—have also played their original compositions and arrangements.

The Twin Cities Jazz Festival is the first of two summer festivals the Combo will play this summer. The group will be hitting the road to play at the Iowa City Jazz Festival on July 6.
