Dakota Combo Auditions September 7 at MacPhail
The audition date for the 2013-14 Dakota Combo has been set for Saturday, September 7 at 12 p.m. Auditions will take place at the MacPhail Center for Music in Downtown Minneapolis.
The Dakota Combo is an all-star ensemble of jazz musicians, grades 9-12, selected through open auditions to rehearse and perform under the direction of MacPhail Jazz Coordinator and renowned bassist Adam Linz. All tuition covered through partnership with the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education.
In addition to biweekly rehearsals at MacPhail and performances at concert, club, and festival venues, Combo musicians attend clinics, tour area schools, and work with guest artists throughout the school year.
Graduates have gone on to prestigious music programs at Berklee College of Music, the New England Conservatory, New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, the Brubeck Institute, Oberlin Conservatory, Lawrence Conservatory, Northwestern University, Michigan State University, U of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and more.
