Dakota Combo plays in “NextGen Jazz” with JazzMN

Join the JazzMN Orchestra for a special Sunday Matinee performance that highlights the future of jazz! The March 5th concert will feature saxophonist R.W. Enoch, vocalist Alex Nester and hip-hop artist Elmer Demond from the group Urban Renewal Project.
These young Los Angeles artists bring experience with projects in film, TV (American Idol), and performances with music icons Santana and Tito Jackson. The unique Urban Renewal Project style has been described as encompassing original soul, hip-hop and jazz grooves with a big band sound.

JazzMN’s “NextGen” concert opens with performances by the Minnesota Youth Jazz Bands’ Jazz I and the Dakota Combo. These students represent the all-stars and ambassadors of jazz from schools throughout the region. Following the featured students, JazzMN will perform fresh and exciting next generation jazz with music from the Uptown Jazz Tentet (a new group comprised of recent Juilliard students), contemporary jazz grooves by Austin, Texas group Times Ten, mixed in with swingin’ standards from LA’s Phil Norman Tentet.
